Santes Dwynwen at the 'Nudes With Friends' cabaret

The cabaret took place on Valentines day and when thinking of what I could do for my act my thoughts went straight to Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. In Wales we celebrate her on the 25th of January but I thought regardless of the date her story needed to be told. Especially as I was performing for an English audience who had never even heard of her before, they needed to be taught a lesson! For the performance I combined medieval Welsh poetry about Santes Dwynwen and a haunting cover of 'Milkshake' by Kelis.

It's Britney, Bitch

The first time my Britney made an appearance was for a commissioned slot in the 'Prince Gorg' cabaret at FUEL cafe bar. My idea was to tell the heartbreaking story of how Britney was treated by media and the industry from such a young age that ultimately led to her public mental breakdown in 2007. For the music I mixed songs of hers with audio from interviews and paparazzi videos that highlighted the rampant sexism and mistreatment she faced.

Since 'Prince Gorge' I have performed as Britney a further two times at 'Creatures of Carthasis' and 'Haus of Kunst Cabaret'

Santes's debut

Video from my first performance as my drag persona 'Santes', this wasn't my first time performing in drag but the first time 'Santes' made an appearance. This was at Creature of Carthasis in Jimmy's, Manchester, the songs are O Superman by Laurie Anderson and Born in Xixax by Nina Hagen.

Edible Edna and Santes at Fatty Acid

For this performance I collaborated with artist Josie Tothill, we started with the idea of wanting to use clay in the performance. From there we had the idea of reenacting the famous pottery scene from ghost but instead the potter would be building their lover from clay.

Debs's debut

This was my first time performing as Debs and first time performing in any night life event. I chose this song because when first listening to it I immediately pictured Debs singing it, it was her song.
